RAEFORD—Richard Dewitte Jernigan, Jr., 63, formerly of Whiteville, died Thursday, April 4, at his home in Raeford.

He was retired from the U.S. Air Force.

The funeral will be 1:00 PM Friday, April 12, at Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2871 Chadbourn Highway, Whiteville. Burial, with military honors, will be in the George Cemetery.

There will be no public viewing.

Surviving are his sisters, Ora Jane Scott of South Norwalk, CT, Belinda Dixon of Staten Island, NY, Carolyn Jernigan of San Antonio, TX, and Stephanie Jordan of Whiteville; stepsisters, Vernell Phinisee of Chadbourn and Delores M. Holloway of Raleigh; and stepbrother, LeRoy McCoy of Whiteville.

Friends may visit the family at 741 West Burkhead Street, Whiteville, or at the home of Gail Brooks, 1654 Jack Hayes Road, Whiteville, NC.
