GREENSBORO, NC—Burma Jean Shipman, 73, formerly of the Mount Olive Community, Whiteville, died Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Columbus Regional Healthcare system.

The funeral will be 12:00 PM Monday, February 17, at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 5548 Silver Spoon Road, Whiteville, NC, by Rev. George Dexter Carlisle.  Burial will be in the church cemetery #2.

Viewing will be at Peoples Funeral Chapel Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and at the church Monday 30 minutes prior to and following the service.

Surviving are her son, Kendrick Shipman; sisters, Eunice Shipman Campbell, Lynette Shipman Johnson, Mary Shipman-Lindsey, Helen Shipman Nesmith, Sheryl Shipman Nixon, and Patricia Shipman Hines; brothers, Delmas Shipman and Lawrence Shipman.
