LAURINBURG, NC—Claude Purvis Burns, 87, formerly of Whiteville, died Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Scottish Pines Nursing & Rehab Center.
He was a retired veteran of the U. S. Air Force.
The funeral will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 17, at Peoples Funeral Chapel by Rev. Joseph L. Shaw. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home chapel Saturday 30 minutes prior to the service.
Surviving are his son, Michael A. Burns of Port Orchard, WA; stepdaughter, Cynthia D. Mears of Laurinburg, NC; brother, Joseph Epps of Mint Hill, NC; sister, Mary Jamison of Greenville, SC.
