WHITEVILLE—Franklin Hubert Spears, 81, of 2646 Red Store Road, Whiteville, died Tuesday, January 22, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House.
The funeral will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 29, at the Brunswick-Waccamaw Baptist Association Headquarters, 600 Pinelog Road, Whiteville, by Rev. Franklin Graham, pastor of New Light Missionary Baptist Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Hallsboro Memorial Park.
Viewing will be at Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and at the headquarters Tuesday one hour prior to and following the service.
Surviving are his wife, Gwendolyn Lindsay Spears; son, Franklin Spears, Jr. of Georgia; daughter, Gina Spears Cartegena of Florida; stepson, James Hill of Pennsylvania; sisters, Eloise Perkins of Connecticut and Vonnie Walker of Virginia, Gwendolyn Shipman of Goldsboro, Barbara Best of Virginia, Floretta Benjamin of California, and Gail Register of Whiteville; brothers, Percy Walker of Iowa and James Walker, Jr. of Virginia, Franklin George, Reginald George, and Gregory George of Whiteville, and Terrance George of Hallsboro.
