Henry Daniel Jones, Jr.

WHITEVILLE--Dr. Henry Daniel Jones, Jr., 80, of 170 Twin Pines Road, Whiteville, died Saturday, August 11, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System.

He was the son of the late Rev. Henry Daniel Jones and Estelle Ford Jones and was the pastor of Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the past moderator of the New Era and Brunswick-Waccamaw Baptist Associations.  He was a US Army veteran and retired from Southeastern Community College.

The funeral will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 19, at the Brunswick-Waccamaw Baptist Headquarters, 600 Pinelog Road, Whiteville, by Dr. Timothy A. Lance.  Burial, with military honors, will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Viewing will be at Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM and at the headquarters Sunday one hour prior to the service.  There will be a wake Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 409 Bitmore Road, Whiteville.

Surviving are his wife, Reather Mae Jones; son, Vernon Jones of Whiteville; daughter, Rena Jones Rochelle of Raleigh; brother, William Jones of Durham; and sisters, Faye Canty, Catherine Pierce, and Sarah Shipman of Whiteville.
