WHITEVILLE—James Russell Jeffries, 78, of 2875 Jack Hayes Road, Whiteville, NC, died Friday, October 10, 2025, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

The funeral will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 18, at Brunswick-Waccamaw Baptist Headquarters, 600 Pinelog Road, Whiteville, NC, by Elder Ricky D. McLean, Jr.  Burial, with military honors, will be at George Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Peoples Funeral Chapel Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and at the Headquarters Saturday 30 minutes prior to the service.

Surviving are his wife, Marva R. Jeffries; son, Rodney Jeffries of St. Albans, NY; sisters, Eloise Jeffries and Betty Ann Jeffries of Whiteville.
