WHITEVILLE—Sarah Thelma Hemingway Ward, 97, of 713 West Burkhead Street, Whiteville, died Sunday, December 4, 2022, at her home.

The funeral will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 9, at Saint Mark AME Zion Church, 114 West Virgil Street, Whiteville, by Dr. Charlrean Mapson.  Burial will be in the Millican Cemetery.

Viewing will be at Peoples Funeral Chapel Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and at the church Friday following the service.

Surviving are her daughters, Evelyn Rorie of Whiteville and Ruth N. Ward of Hallsboro, NC; son, Tony Ward of Whiteville.
