WHITEVILLE—Thomas Oliver Clarida, Jr., 79, of Whiteville, died Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and owner of Clarida’s Barber Shop.

The funeral will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 15, at Zion Plain Baptist Church, 11040 Seven Creeks Highway, Nakina, NC, by Pastor Mack Reid.  Burial, with military honors, will be in the New Zion Plain Cemetery.

Viewing will be at Peoples Funeral Chapel Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and at the church Saturday following the service.

Surviving are his wife, Carstella Lennon Clarida; sons, Eddie McMillian of Raleigh, NC, Thomas D. Clarida of Murfreesboro, TN, Randy L. Clarida of Walkertown, NC, and Roderick Clarida of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Berneice Jones of Whiteville, Virginia Purdie of Fayetteville, NC, Phyllis Gardenhire of Princeton, NJ, Mavis Powell of Union, NJ, and Madie Goldston of Scotch Plains, NJ; brother, Robert Clarida of Fayetteville, NC.
